Roads - Roads - and More Roads.
Lake Hillsdale is a 1,720 acre development and is almost half as large as Picayune, Mississippi, containing approximately 35 miles of paved and unpaved roads. Lacking equipment and funding, many of the roads in subdivisions without homes has come to some disrepair. To improve our roads, and at least be able to grade new and clean existing ditches in 2010, we replaced our 1942 Gallion Road Scarfier with a used Road Grader.
In 2010 Pearl River County agreed to accept 5.8 miles of the main roads within Lake Hillsdale Subdivisions as County Roads. The County will now perform repairs to surfaces and drainage. The list of roads accepted by the County is provided in this document.
Lake Hillsdale County Roads
The LHPOA Board of Directors speaking with County representatives has indicated that the County shall resurface the roads accepted by the County within the next 2 years if state money is available.
In 2011 we intend to replace our 1952 dump truck and 1954 utility truck with a used, but newer model that will actually start when needed. While new equipment will provide the tools to improve maintenance of our roads, the number of miles to maintain remains a daunting task for our two-man maintenance crew. However we shall continue to provide service to our members and improve our roads where needed and funds permit.
